Despite his claim that “I don’t get to watch much television, primarily because of documents. I’m reading documents a lot,” Donald Trump doesn’t read the President’s Daily Brief, the Washington Post reports:
Trump has opted to rely on an oral briefing of select intelligence issues in the Oval Office rather than getting the full written document delivered to review separately each day, according to three people familiar with his briefings.
Reading the traditionally dense intelligence book is not Trump’s preferred “style of learning,” according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
As we all know, Trump’s preferred style of learning is turning on Fox & Friends. Maybe that show’s hosts could do a special Trump-only episode each morning in which they read the daily brief out loud to him?
So Trump doesn’t read the written materials and his in-person briefers have learned that they need to bring graphics and videos to keep his attention, but:
Another person familiar with the briefing process said that, at times, Trump has been dismissive of his briefers. He has shaken his head, frowned and complained that the briefers were “talking down to him,” this person said.
Maybe the real lesson is that Trump’s preferred style of learning is not learning at all. Which might also explain the Fox & Friends obsession.
