Top class star makes surprise claim, says Spurs star is on the same level as Messi

Top class star makes surprise claim, says Spurs star is on the same level as Messi – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham take on Juventus in the Champions League later tonight and Giorgio Chiellini has been talking up Harry Kane’s ability ahead of the clash.

The Italian centre-back revealed that the England international is on par with Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar right now.

He said: “Kane is now among the elite players in the world. Over the last years, with the goals he has scored, he has been on the level of the best. Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar — Kane has been on that level. He is one of those players that is irreplaceable – and I am sure that Tottenham will be doing all they can to make sure he stays.”

There is no doubt that Kane is the best striker around Europe right now but to claim that he is on a similar level to that of Lionel Messi is frankly surprising. The Barcelona superstar is simply in a league of his own.

Kane is a world-class player who would improve most teams around the world but it seems that the Juventus star is overrating his opponent for tonight.

Tottenham will be hoping for an away win tonight and they will want to take a lead back to Wembley for the second leg. The Londoners have been in superb form lately and they will be full of confidence for this one.

Pochettino’s men recently beat Manchester United and Arsenal in the league.

Man City surprise: Ederson’s shock contract offer

Man City & Ederson

According to the Sun on Tuesday morning, Manchester City are gearing up to lock Ederson down to a new contract.

That’s something of a surprise as the Brazilian number two only joined Man City seven months ago from Benfica.

Many questioned whether Man City’s £34 million investment in Ederson was smart business. But nowadays it’s easy to argue that Pep Guardiola picked up a bargain when the South American signed.

Only Man United (19) have conceded less than Man City (20) this season.

Ederson has kept 12 clean sheets in his first season in the Premier League. While he’s challenged the stereotype of what a goalie does in a game with his fabulous array of passes.

Ederson’s shock City contract offer

The Sun are sketchy on all the details of a possible new deal for Ederson.

The tabloid have no idea when the deal is coming, how long it will survive for, or any of the financials associated with the agreement. Instead readers are told:

Etihad chiefs want to reward him with fresh terms, upping his lowly £70,000-a-week wages.

He is contracted until 2022, but Guardiola believes he can be City’s number one for nearly the next decade.

Loooocoo… What was the sun doing at the end of the game mendy?😂😂😂

Basel vs Manchester City

How many people will be tuning into this match on Tuesday night?

While the lion’s share of the attention in the Champions League tonight will be on the Juventus vs Tottenham game, Pep Guardiola will be hoping to avoid any slip up in Switzerland.

Basel are arguably the weakest team left in the UCL, and Man City should have no problems reaching the quarterfinals.

In a welcome shock for the Sky Blues, it’s believed Leroy Sane may be in the starting XI in his standard left-wing role.

Trump promised to fix the 'disaster' of the trade deficit: Surprise! Now it's worse!

You may have heard, by this point, that the stock market is super-duper important and sure evidence of Donald Trump’s greatness, unless it goes down in which case shut up. You may have heard that budget deficits are very bad things and a sign of presidential failure, unless Donald Trump’s party blows a trillion-dollar hole through that budget, in which case (say it with me) also shut up. You may have heard that the Syrian government would never dare use chemical weapons on its own people, when the idiot manchild was in charge; you may have heard that terrorists would be too afraid of idiot manchild’s stern public speeches to dare continue terrorizing. You may have heard a lot of things, in fact.

One of the other things Donald Trump insisted was the end of America, during his campaign of Repeating Things Fox News Told Me, was the trade deficit. He has spent a great deal of toilet time rage-tweeting about this, in fact.

Hillary Clinton surged the trade deficit with China 40% asSecretary of State, costing Americans millions of jobs.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 21, 2016

I presume you can guess the punchline here.

The U.S. trade deficit increased more than 12 percent in 2017, to $566 billion — its highest level since 2008, according to figures released on Tuesday by the Commerce Department.

The trade deficit with China rose to a record $375 billion in 2017, and trade gaps with Mexico, Canada and Japan also increased.

Yes, he was bullshitting the whole time. The trade deficit is a function of the national and world economy; it is not necessarily catastrophic or even bad to begin with; it is not something that an idiot manchild can switch on or off—unless the idiot manchild bars trade entirely, which he has vaguely threatened from time to time.

Revealed: The surprise club Angel di Maria almost joined last summer

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Angel di Maria has confirmed that he was close to joining Barcelona last summer, in an interview conducted with TyC Sports.

The player had been linked with a return back to La Liga, however, after his failed move, his focus remains very much on being successful with both PSG and Argentina.

Di Maria also commented on his future ambitions, claiming that he would be interested in a return back to Argentina.

“Close to joining Barcelona”

Di Maria has admitted that he was close to joining his fellow countryman Lionel Messi at the Nou camp last summer.

However, following his failed move away from Paris, he has been pleased with his level of performances at the start of 2018.

Di Maria said:

“I was really close to joining Barcelona but in the end, it wasn’t to be.

I started 2018 on a good foot, though, and I am really happy.

I like assisting goals more than scoring them.”

The Argentine also commented on his future plans:

“My dream was to come to Europe and now it’s my dream to return to Rosario Central.”

Successful season

The 29-year-old has proven to be a vital asset for the French league leaders this season, despite the arrival of both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar over the summer.

Di Maria has managed an impressive combined total of 27 goals and assists in 28 appearances in all competitions for the European giants.

This will be a huge boost for Argentina ahead of the World Cup with the player starting to return to heights he hit at Real Madrid.

Ahead of this year’s World Cup in Russia, Di Maria said:

“We’ve reached three finals and due to bad luck we’ve not won them, it’s not to do with a lack of balls.

Against Germany, we were the better side but we didn’t get the rub of the green.

Argentina or on a level with German and Spain in terms of names and for what they have to play for.”

Leroy Sane gives Man City a surprise boost before Leicester

Unexpected

Manchester City have been given an unexpected boost this week regarding Leroy Sane and his injury which looked to keep him out for a number of weeks.

The forward suffered a horrible injury in the cup when he received a horror tackle from a Cardiff star which caused ligament damage.

Pep Guardiola then revealed that the player who likely be out for a decent amount of time, around seven weeks.

Prior to that injury, the German was in fine form and had nailed down a regular spot on the left wing for Man City.

Though, his serious injury looked to have derailed that until pictures of the player emerged this morning from the Mail.

Not only did they show the player in fine spirits, they showed the player in training at the club.

This comes under two weeks after the horror injury which is simply incredible and provides a huge boost ahead of their game against Leicester this weekend.

Whether the player is likely to play any part this weekend has not been stated but you would still assume he will play no part.

With him returning to training today, there could be a chance for him to face Basel in the Champions League the week after.

If not, he could be in line to face Wigan in the FA Cup and complete his incredibly swift return from injury.

Fears for David Silva before Leicester

While the Sane news is no doubt positive, there is some negative news.

That is because David Silva now looks likely to miss the Leicester game this weekend.

The Spaniard has been dealing with problems relating to the birth of his child and has been in and out of the squad.

Though, the news this week comes in the form of an injury.
