Arturo Vidal breaks silence over Man United transfer rumours

Manchester United target Arturo Vidal has made it clear that he has no intentions of leaving Bayern Munich in the summer.

The Chile international, who was heavily pursued by Man United to no avail in 2014, could be moved along following the arrival of Leon Goretzka from Schalke.

And Jose Mourinho, according to reports, has pinpointed Vidal as one of his main midfield targets ahead of the retirement of Michael Carrick and possible departure of Marouane Fellaini in the summer.

But Vidal, when asked about the rumours, was adamant that he wasn’t planning on going anywhere in the transfer window.

“I’m not thinking about a transfer. I feel very comfortable here,” he said.

“Of course I would like to extend my contract. That’s an option. My kids are very happy here, too.”

With Ander Herrera also reportedly subject to interest from AC Milan, plans need to be put in place ahead of the summer to secure two midfielders at the very least.

And with the transfer window set to be shorter than normal, United simply cannot waste their time chasing dead ends, or even players who need convincing. The case of Vidal in 2014, along with David Moyes’ numerous failed transfer exploits the year before, are examples of why doing this can be fatal.

Pursuing the likes of Nice’s Jean Michel Seri and Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic, therefore, would be far more sensible given that the pair both expressed a desire to leave last summer and will be on the market next time around.

Tom Brady Breaks His Silence on the Patriots' Super Bowl Loss

Tom Brady is finally ready to address his loss at the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots quarterback shared a photo of himself and teammate Rob Gronkowski on Instagram Friday, along with a message of gratitude to everyone who supported him and his team.

“It has taken me a few days to reflect on our SB loss as well as the great season our team had. There are many emotions when you come up short of your goal. And they are all part of learning and growing in this journey of life,” Brady, 40, wrote almost a week after he and his team lost to the Philidelphia Eagles 41-33.

“Learning turns everything into a positive. And the number one feeling I have had the past 4 days is gratitude. Gratitude to my teammates for the incredible effort given all season regardless of the challenges we faced,” he wrote.

He continued saying he felt gracious toward his coaches for their sacrifice toward the team.

“Gratitude to the NEP organization for supporting us on our very challenging and difficult journey. Gratitude to the Philadelphia Eagles team and organization for bringing out the best in us and being gracious winners (as well as congratulations on winning the championship),” he continued.

“Gratitude toward our fans who showed up every week to cheer us on and commit their time and energy and love and support to what our goals are,” Brady added. “And gratitude to my family and friends who continue to love and support my dreams.
Thank you all. I love you all. Best, Tom.”

His wife, model Gisele Bündchen, supported the athlete during Sunday’s game. While the mother of two will continue to cheer on her husband if he chooses to continue playing, a source recently told PEOPLE she’d still like to see him retire.

“Gisele always supports Tom no matter what,” a source close to the couple said.

Though the source added that “nobody really knows what’s next for him now,” it’s likely Brady won’t be retiring.

But even though she’ll stand behind whatever her husband decides, a different source close to the 37-year-old supermodel tells PEOPLE that Bündchen has “been telling friends for a couple years now that she would like him to retire and just be able to be at home, but he is so committed to the game.”

“He didn’t want to retire after ‘Deflategate,’” the second source added, referencing the 2015 scandal where Brady was issued a four-game suspension for his part in allegedly deflating footballs for an unfair advantage during an AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The source also revealed that “after the big surprise win last year” when the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl, Bündchen “was hopeful that he might want to go out on top, but he still wants to play.”

Following the outcome of Sunday’s game, Bündchen extended an olive branch to the Eagles while also praising her husband and his team for their “commitment” and “sacrifice.”

“Congratulations Eagles for winning the Super Bowl, what a game that was!” she wrote on Instagram.

She continued, “Congratulations Patriots for giving your best and to my love, we are incredibly proud of you because we are able to see everday all the commitment, sacrifice and hard work that you have devoted to become the best in what you do. We love you!”

President Trump Breaks Silence on Ousted Aide Rob Porter Amid Abuse Allegations: 'We Wish Him Well'

Two days after top Trump aide Rob Porter resigned amid domestic abuse allegations from his two ex-wives, President Donald Trump is weighing in for the first time and showing support for his former staff secretary.

“We wish him well. He worked very hard,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, according to a pool report.

The president added that it is a “tough time” for Porter.

“As you probably know he says he is innocent,” Trump said, adding that Porter did “very well” in the White House.

Porter’s ex-wives, Jennifer Willoughby and Colbie Holderness, alleged to The Daily Mail on Wednesday that he was physically and verbally abusive to them during their respective marriages.

On Friday, Willoughby, Porter’s second ex-wife, appeared on the Today show, where she said she took out a temporary protective order against her then-husband after he pulled her wet and naked out of the shower “to continue the rage” during an argument.

She also alleged that Porter punched in the door of a home she was staying in during their separation.

In a statement read by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders at a press conference on Wednesday, Porter denied Willoughby and Holderness’ allegations — including photos The Daily Mail published showing Holderness with a bruised right eye, which she claims was the result of Porter punching her in the face during a trip to Italy in the mid-2000s.

“These outrageous allegations are simply false,” Porter wrote. “I took the photos given to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described.”

Porter also alleged that Willoughby and Holderness were conspiring against him.

Trump’s defense of Porter comes as chief of staff John Kelly is facing widespread criticism for his own show of support for the ousted aide. After Porter’s ex-wives came forward with their stories, Kelly defended Porter as a “man of true integrity and honor” in a statement.
