Here’s a campaign ad in the making. The occupier of the Oval Office made his first on-camera remarks about the resignation of aide Rob Porter, the wife-abuser who was under investigation for his abuse by the FBI and had been denied a security clearance. Remember, the White House had known for months about Porter’s domestic violence and ignored it.
So you won’t be surprised at Trump’s reaction.
Trump said “it was very sad” to learn about Porter’s alleged abuse, but pointed out that Porter has denied the claims.
“As you probably know, he says he’s innocent, and I think you have to remember that,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “He said very strongly yesterday that he’s innocent, so you’ll have to talk to him about that.”
He also said “We wish him well,” and “hope he has a wonderful career” and reiterated that he’s “very sad.” Clearly, he’s very sad that Porter is being forced to leave, not that Porter tried to ruin the lives of multiple women.
