I would like to prepare a small artisanal screen print, I am young, I have little money (unfortunately) and I would like you to give me some advice on how to start in the best way local screen printing. The place is underground, I do not have access to the water network and it is very small (about 3×3 m). I would like to know if it can be prepared there.
A space of 3×3 meters is enough to organize a small screen printing workshop with a single person in charge, but it is surely not appropriate for large productions.
The reason is that in 9 square meters you can place equipment such asscreen printing machine, the sunburner, a small washing tub, a shelf for products, and evena heat press to dry, but there is not much space for the material to be printed at input, output and in process.
A 3×3 meter space is enough to organize a small screen printing workshop with only one person in charge.
If the place does not have a water network or drainage installation, I advise you to separate the work into two parts, to be carried out in two different places:
– pre-press (computer graphics, film output, exposure of the frame and development of the frame)
– print itself
In any case, for a simpler process, it is very convenient that the preparation of the frame and the exposure be carried out near the developing vat.
Printing on paper and t-shirts allows you not to usesolvent based inks, but only water based o Plastisol.
In this way, ventilation of the place is less important.
For paper, in particular, absolutely harmless biological inks can be used, which eliminates safety concerns.
