Manchester United target Arturo Vidal looks set to leave Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports from Germany.
The Chile international was heavily pursued by Louis van Gaal in the summer of 2014 but decided to remain at Juventus before joining Bayern a year later.
Jose Mourinho wants to add midfield reinforcements this summer and has reportedly pinpointed Vidal as one of his main transfer targets.
And according to German media outlet Kicker, the German champions, having secured the services of Leon Goretzka, want to make further investments in younger talent over the summer and will sanction the departure of Vidal or Thiago Alcantara as a result.
Bayern also want to replace the outgoing pair of Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben with Man United targets Leon Bailey and Christian Pulisic. Combine that with talents like Joshua Kimmich, Kingsley Coman, Corentin Tolliso, Niklas Sule, along with Gortezta, and you have a serious platform for the future.
This is an obvious project of Bayern’s having lost their presence in the Champions League over the last few years with a strong but ageing squad, and United could prove to be the main beneficiaries of such an evolution, plucking Vidal – a dynamic, intelligent, seasoned midfielder with excellent vision and tenacity – from the Allianz Arena after working so tirelessly to get him four years ago.
