Having a new dog is an exciting thing but there are also some downsides to that at the top of the list being training it in your own house! However, the most important advantage of doing it is that you get to train it to fit your own standards! Dog training pads are a great way of effectively and easily house training a dog. Here are some of the basic steps for training your dog.
- Set the dog’s training pad in a quiet none-busy and out of everyone’s way corner of the house. The dog needs to feel comfortable and happy every training time.
- Put an adjustable fence around his pad to ensure that the dog is well contained at all times during training. This will comparatively make house-breaking him far much easier.
- Always feed your dog routinely. This will ensure stability in the puppy’s life not to mention the fact that potty training will be made easier since most often than not, dogs will need to go immediately after meals which are followed by naps.
- Lay down the dog pad in the exercise pen opposite from it’s kennel. Generally, dogs do not like to go where they sleep, so choosing a point as far from its kennel as possible will encourage them to use the pads.
- Dogs go approximately 10 times a day therefore, it very important to always be keen for signs that your dog wants to go. Such would include; pacing about, whining and sniffing about.
- Whenever it is you notice that your puppy needs to go, place it the pad and then give a command to potty! Ensure that the command you issue is consistent every time it has to go for ease of remembrance by the dog such that, with proper training, the dog will get to go just on command!
- Give the dog some kind of privacy for it to be comfortable enough to potty. While it is busy trying to go, repeat the command over and over again until it does its business.
- Praise your dog as soon as it goes potty and reward it by giving it its favorite treat! This will generally reinforce good behavior.
- Lastly, repeat this steps every other time until the dog is able to seek the pad and go without being commanded to do that! That will be the height of success in training it.
Dogs are man’s best friend and while training, require patience and encouragement for them to reach well behaved heights! However, dog training pads help to make the task easier. Try it today for amazing results.
