Jose Mourinho: Pep Guardiola ‘cries’

Holly Clancy, February 10, 2018

Jose Mourinho vs Pep Guardiola

On the front page of the sports section in this weekend’s Sunday Times, there’s a new bout of Jose Mourinho vs Pep Guardiola.

This week it’s Mourinho turn to again take a swipe at the Man City boss.

Mourinho has thrown thinly-veiled shade in Guardiola’s direction, saying he doesn’t “cry” about his opponents fouling his players.

The comment was raised in the context of Alexis Sanchez receiving a league high 13 fouls vs Huddersfield last weekend. The Special One remarked:

Maybe his manager needs to cry a little bit more…Maybe I have to cry a little bit to protect my players.

I don’t like the word ‘protect’ because it looks like they have to protect only the top players – but everyone on the pitch is the same.

Man City 5 – Leicester 1

If only they could give hand Man City the Premier League title now…

The Sky Blues claimed another three points on Saturday beating Leicester 5-1.

Raheem Sterling opened after three minutes, while Sergio Aguero stole the headlines with four goals against the Foxes.

Kevin De Bruyne stole the show, however, as the Belgian registered a hat-trick of assists.

Newcastle United vs Man United

Rafa Benitez’s struggling Newcastle United side welcome Manchester United to St James’ Park this weekend. The visitors haven’t lost away to Newcastle since 2012.

An incredible 31 points separate the two sides ahead of kick off with Man United fighting to stay in the top four whereas Newcastle are battling against relegation.

The Magpies are without a win in their last 5 whilst United have dropped points just once, in 2018.

Newcastle took the lead at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture before a rampant United side responded with four goals to claim all three points.

Its likely to be a similar result this time around in the North East as Newcastle haven’t won at home (in the league) since October.
