Newcastle have option to sign this star in summer, Benitez must activate the clause

Newcastle have option to sign this star in summer, Benitez must activate the clause – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Newcastle signed Martin Dubravka on loan last month and the 29-year-old has had a debut to remember against Manchester United.

According to reports, the Magpies have an option to sign the player permanently for a nominal fee at the end of this season.

Apparently, the Premier League outfit paid around £1.7million to loan the player for the remainder of this season. Newcastle have an option to make it a permanent deal for around £3.5million at the end of the campaign.

Dubravka impressed the Newcastle fans with his heroic display last week and the fans will be delighted with the revelation.

If the January signing continues to put in more performances like the one against United, Newcastle could land a major bargain.

The likes of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot have failed to impress Rafa Benitez this season and Dubravka is likely to start for the Magpies between now and the end of the season. It will be interesting to see whether he can keep up this level of performance and help Newcastle beat the drop this season.

Jose Mourinho could lose Manchester United trio worth £37.4m this summer

Jose Mourinho could lose Manchester United trio worth £37.4m this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could lose three midfielders worth £37.4m from the first-team at the end of the season, leaving him incredibly short in a key area with mere weeks to replace them.

Michael Carrick, who joined from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, has made more than 450 appearances for United but is set to retire this summer.

The 36-year-old has been on the periphery this season, making just three appearances in all competitions, and will join Mourinho’s coaching staff ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. He’s worth just £1m as a result.

United still haven’t made any progress in contract talks with Marouane Fellaini which could result in the £6.4m-rated Belgian international leaving at the end of the season on a free transfer.

Signed from Everton in 2013, the 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order this season, making only four starts in all competitions for United, and might consider a move away to get more playing time.

Ander Herrera is the third first-team midfielder whose future is uncertain this season. The Spanish international, who joined from Athletic Bilbao in 2014, has struggled to dethrone Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic from the midfield.

Herrera’s been linked with a £30m move to AC Milan, and given the 28-year-old has made just eight Premier League starts this season, it’s possible he could be lured away from Old Trafford.

It’s bad news for Mourinho, as the 2018 summer transfer window closes before the new season starts, leaving him with less time to replace three midfielders from the squad.

Everton ready to get rid of key man in summer, Portuguese lined up as replacement

Everton ready to get rid of key man in summer, Portuguese lined up as replacement – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Everton are ready to replace Sam Allardyce in the summer after their poor run of form in the recent weeks.

According to reports, the Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca is a target for the Toffees.

Allardyce replaced Ronald Koeman at Everton earlier this season but the Toffees are not happy with his contributions so far.

Despite an impressive start to his tenure as the Everton boss, Allardyce’s side has shown no signs of progress. Everton’s win over Palace on Saturday was only their second in ten games.

Farhad Moshiri has invested £239m on new players and it is evident that most of that money has been wasted on mediocre players like Cenk Tosun.

It will be interesting to see if the Toffees can convince Fonseca to take over at Goodison Park at the end of this season.

Allardyce has an 18-month contract at the club but he is simply not good enough to take Everton to Europe. In order to get more out of his investment, Moshiri needs to find a better manager and also improve the club’s recruitment setup.

Liverpool eyeing summer move for £100 million forward, Chelsea and Tottenham also in the running

Liverpool eyeing summer move for £100 million forward, Chelsea and Tottenham also in the running – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

Leverkusen have slapped a £100 million price tag on the 20-year-old who is being monitored by numerous Premier League clubs.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all regularly watched Bailey, but Liverpool are eager to add the Jamaican to their squad.

The Reds have been strongly linked with Monaco star Thomas Lemar, but manager Jurgen Klopp believes the forward will head elsewhere at the end of the season.

Bailey made his Belgian Pro League debut for Genk in August 2015 in a 3–1 away defeat against Sint-Truiden.

He joined Leverkusen in the 2016/2017 winter transfer window for a fee of €20 million, after interest from United and Chelsea.

Bailey has scored 10 goals in 22 appearances for Leverkusen this season, but he has already made it clear he wants to play in the Premier League.

“Of course I have a dream club, but I will not tell,” Bailey has said previously.

“Basically, England was and still is my dream. And if I keep working hard, I’m sure it will work someday.

“The change to Bayer was just the right step for my development.”

£30m player says he would be 'very happy' to join Newcastle permanently in summer

£30m player says he would be ‘very happy’ to join Newcastle permanently in summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Leicester City striker Islam Slimani hopes to join Newcastle United on a permanent deal in the summer.

The Algerian joined the Magpies on loan in January and he is happy with life at Newcastle so far.

The 29-year-old striker believes that he has the trust of Rafa Benitez and that will help him rediscover his form in the Premier League.

When asked about a permanent move to Newcastle, the player said: “Yes, yes. I’m just on loan at the minute but if I could stay here I’d be very happy, so let’s see how it goes. My objective is to score goals, give my best and really fight for this team. The big difference is that he (Benitez) trusts me and when you have the trust of your coach, that’s very important. They trusted me at Leicester, it’s not that I wasn’t trusted, I started well but then I was dogged by bad health and injuries. He (Benitez) phoned me and we had a good chat. There was a good feeling between us and it’s important to get a like this, to know you’re wanted by a big coach like him. I wanted to leave Leicester, I needed a fresh start. Newcastle’s a big club and it’s a good choice for me. A lot of clubs of got in touch but I’m pretty sure I made the right choice.”

Leicester paid £30m for Slimani back in 2016 after a break-out season with Sporting. The forward failed to deliver in at the King Power Stadium and his decision to move is perhaps the best for all parties.

It will be interesting to see whether Newcastle break the bank for the player in the summer now. Leicester will be looking to recoup most of the money they invested in the player. Slimani is 29 and it might not be a wise investment for the Magpies. The player will have to perform really well for the remainder of this season to earn a permanent move to St James’ Park.

Manchester clubs to compete for £50m defender in summer – report

Manchester United are interested in bringing England international Harry Maguire to the club in summer after a fantastic first season at Leicester City.

The Foxes were ridiculed for spending £17m on the central defender last summer, but his form this season at the King Power Stadium has seen him work his way into Garet Southgate’s England starting line-up, with a place in the Three Lions’ FIFA 2018 World Cup squad now looking probable.

The Mirror suggest that Maguire is now of interest to both Man United and local title rivals Manchester City.

Leicester fans have hailed Maguire for his ball-playing abilities and contributions in the opposition’s penalty area. United fans will now that all too well after Maguire scored a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw during the festive period at the King Power to deny Jose Mourinho’s side the full three points.

In terms of English players, Maguire has been one of the best in the Premier League this season. Despite playing in defence, he has more successful dribbles than Dele Alli and Jamie Vardy, and has netted twice with four assists, too.

Both Manchester clubs are reportedly tracking his progress, though United could have the upper hand after Man City’s business with Ryad Mahrez, which saw the Algerian hand in a transfer request on Deadline Day in January before City pulled out of the deal, unsettling the player and the team.

Any deal would likely be around £50m. Is that worth United’s investment? Maguire is 24, but there will certainly be a feeling that the Reds could do better.

Man City agree fee for combative midfielder, move will be completed in summer

Man City agree fee for combative midfielder, move will be completed in summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Manchester City have agreed on a deal to sign the Brazilian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.

According to Goal, both clubs have agreed on a fee of £44.5 million and the player will complete his transfer at the end of this season.

Nothing has been signed yet, but both parties have agreed to the terms of the transfer.

Apparently, Fred was keen on the move and the former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva helped broker the deal.

City tried to sign the box-to-box midfielder back in January but Shakhtar were not prepared to lose him back then. The Premier League giants went on to sign Aymeric Laporte by paying his £57m buy-out clause last month.

They were linked with a move for the Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez as well but the Foxes refused to sell the Algerian. Mahrez has been on strike ever since.

Fred is likely to partner Fernandinho at the heat of Manchester City’s midfield next season. He will bring more drive and power to Guardiola’s midfield.

Guardiola must now look to improve his left-back options as well. City need to find a top quality backup for Benjamin Mendy.
