Pundit claims this Man Utd star may consider leaving

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has claimed that Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford may have to leave the club in search for first team football.

Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from the Gunners in January sparked a debate on what the move could mean for United’s youngsters.

Anthony Martial and Rashford in particular have been the ones who the press are seemingly concerned about given the position they share.

Both players play in Sanchez’s preferred left wing position and some people have claimed he will derail their development.

Henry appears to be on board with that assessment and thinks there may come a time for Marcus to reconsider his position at the club.

According to Goal, Thierry said on Sky Sports: “One of the most important things for me is that you have to play. You cannot be on the bench and missing games, missing learning about the game and stopping that momentum, and an example is Rashford.

“Michael Owen had the opportunity to back up what he did the year before because he played, and he played, and he played, and he played – and I can give you more examples.

“But Rashford at times could not capitalise on what he did from that year [after his debut], because sometimes he is playing on the right, [sometimes] on the left.

“Leave is a strong word. Obviously being from there, he wants to play for United. But he has to play and it is becoming even more difficult for him since Sanchez has arrived.

“I think at the end of the season, he is maybe going to have a thinking day of ‘do I stay?’”

Thierry Henry as well as the other pundits or critics’ assessment of the situation seems to be a little unfounded given how things actually are.

Anthony’s game time has not decreased at all since the Chileans arrival to the club whilst Marcus Rashford missed, for the first time this season, the Red Devils’ match squad due to injury and not Alexis Sanchez.

The Englishman has been heavily involved with Manchester United this season just as he had been last seen with Jose Mourinho showing him preferential treatment.

Perhaps the reason why some people are concerned is due to Sanchez’s arrival coinciding with Rashford’s poor form which has seen him drop to the bench.

In fact, it’s Anthony Martial who has overtaken the academy product due to his own good form that allowed him to win the January player of the month for Manchester United.

Links between Man United & Napoli star intensify

Italian outlet Rai Sport are the latest publication to insist that Premier League giants Manchester United are considering a move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

Metronome

Jorginho, a Brazilian-born Italian international, joined Napoli from Hellas Verona for 9.5 million Euro in 2014, since going on to develop into one of the finest midfielders in Serie A.

In an incredible statistic, it was revealed last summer that the 26-year-old made more passes per game than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues last season (as per Football-Italia.net).

Sitting in his deep-lying midfield berth, the Verona youth product has flourished behind Napoli’s fearsome attacking quartet of Marek Hamsik, Jose Callejon, Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens, and has started 21 of his side’s 24 Serie A fixtures to this point in the campaign.

PL links

Despite his near-indispensable presence in Maurizio Sarri’s Partneopei squad, though, Jorginho has often been linked with a departure from the San Paolo over recent seasons, with Arsenal having long been touted as a potential destination.

However, as per a number of reports emanating from Italy over recent months, it is in fact Manchester United who look to have jumped to the front of the queue for Jorginho, having held talks with the representatives of the midfielder regarding a summer switch to the club.

The Red Devils are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park, with Ander Herrera struggling for form and Michael Carrick set to retire at the end of the season.

Manchester battle?

And, as per the aforementioned update from Rai Sport this afternoon, it was Jorginho’s performances during Napoli’s Champions league group stages matchups with Manchester City which caught the eye of United, with Jose Mourinho and co. having been keeping tabs on him since.

However, Rai also claim that Manchester City could rival the Red Devils for Jorginho’s signature in the summer, with Pep Guardiola keen to add another deep-lying creative influence to his Citizens’ squad.

Liverpool star earned this astonishing sum of money for his performance last week

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino put on an excellent display against Southampton last week and Mirror Sport have revealed exactly how much the Brazilian earned in bonuses.

Apparently, the former Hoffenheim attacker is on basic wages of around £68,085-a-week. However, he can earn more than double of that amount per week if he keeps performing the way he did against the Saints.

Firmino’s contract at Liverpool states that the South American will pick up £25,000 for each of his first five goals, £45,000 for his goals between six and 10, £65,000 from 11 to 15, and £85,000 from then on.

Also, the Liverpool forward is paid £31,000 per assist. Therefore, the Brazilian earned around £116,000 in bonuses against Southampton.

Firmino scored his 20th goal of the season against Pellegrino’s side and he will be looking to carry that form into the Champions League now.

The Reds travel to Porto for the first leg of the knockout stages this week. Klopp will be hoping that the likes of Firmino and Salah can get on the scoresheet and secure a valuable away lead for his side.

Top class star makes surprise claim, says Spurs star is on the same level as Messi

Top class star makes surprise claim, says Spurs star is on the same level as Messi – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham take on Juventus in the Champions League later tonight and Giorgio Chiellini has been talking up Harry Kane’s ability ahead of the clash.

The Italian centre-back revealed that the England international is on par with Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar right now.

He said: “Kane is now among the elite players in the world. Over the last years, with the goals he has scored, he has been on the level of the best. Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar — Kane has been on that level. He is one of those players that is irreplaceable – and I am sure that Tottenham will be doing all they can to make sure he stays.”

There is no doubt that Kane is the best striker around Europe right now but to claim that he is on a similar level to that of Lionel Messi is frankly surprising. The Barcelona superstar is simply in a league of his own.

Kane is a world-class player who would improve most teams around the world but it seems that the Juventus star is overrating his opponent for tonight.

Tottenham will be hoping for an away win tonight and they will want to take a lead back to Wembley for the second leg. The Londoners have been in superb form lately and they will be full of confidence for this one.

Pochettino’s men recently beat Manchester United and Arsenal in the league.

Newcastle have option to sign this star in summer, Benitez must activate the clause

Newcastle have option to sign this star in summer, Benitez must activate the clause – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Newcastle signed Martin Dubravka on loan last month and the 29-year-old has had a debut to remember against Manchester United.

According to reports, the Magpies have an option to sign the player permanently for a nominal fee at the end of this season.

Apparently, the Premier League outfit paid around £1.7million to loan the player for the remainder of this season. Newcastle have an option to make it a permanent deal for around £3.5million at the end of the campaign.

Dubravka impressed the Newcastle fans with his heroic display last week and the fans will be delighted with the revelation.

If the January signing continues to put in more performances like the one against United, Newcastle could land a major bargain.

The likes of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot have failed to impress Rafa Benitez this season and Dubravka is likely to start for the Magpies between now and the end of the season. It will be interesting to see whether he can keep up this level of performance and help Newcastle beat the drop this season.

Still 'Hangry'? Teen Snowboarding Star Chloe Kim on What Her First Post-Olympics Meal Might Be

It seems there’s no rest — or food — for an Olympic gold medalist.

Minutes after earning first place in a nearly perfect performance at the women’s halfpipe event in the Water Games on Tuesday morning (Monday night stateside) — and just a few hours after saying she was getting “hangry” on the hill — 17-year-old U.S. snowboarder Chloe Kim said she still hadn’t had a bite to eat.

So what would she chow down on to celebrate her medal, if she had a second to herself?

“Burgers, fries, maybe some Hawaiian pizza,” she tells PEOPLE, her latter choice almost immediately stirring a tiny bit of controversy online from die-hard haters of pineapple and ham and tomato sauce together.

Kim knows from food, just to judge by her Twitter, where her missives the last few days have playfully riffed on her dietary habits.

Between her runs Tuesday in the halfpipe final, Kim tweeted, “Wish I finished my breakfast sandwich but my stubborn self decided not to and now I’m getting hangry.” (A follower responded, “um aren’t u on the top of a mountain rn.”)

Earlier in the week, she shared she “could be down for some ice cream rn,” triggering a mini-viral moment during which NBC polled its followers on what kind of ice cream she should get.

To that she responded, “Cookies & Cream is some good stuff. If anyone can get me some to the village thatd be dope.”

“I’m so nervous!!!!!!!” Kim tweeted on Monday, adding minutes later, “Oh and I also had 2 churros today and they were pretty bomb so if you ever get nervous go eat a churro.”

The playful posts are another piece of Kim’s rapidly increasing fame. Speaking to reporters after competing on Tuesday — as ever with her blend of calm and charisma, spiked by demonstrable enthusiasm; aka, being a teenager — she said her followers on Instagram have about doubled since she traveled to South Korea.

“My Twitter’s been blowing up because of the tweets that I tweeted yesterday,” she said, knowingly, at a news conference later Tuesday, referring to her riffs on what she was and was not eating.

Asked by PEOPLE if she was ready to be known as a foodie Internet personality, it seems Kim is not (understandably) going to leave the snow behind — but she’s not going to abandon any new fans.

She says, “I’m just here to inspire.”

Pundit slams this Man Utd star for being 'predictable'

Former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino did not hold back in his assessment of Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku, calling the player ‘predictable’.

The Belgian has come in for his fair share of criticism this season and after not scoring during the club’s loss against Newcastle, received even more from the pundit.

Lukaku though was perhaps United’s best player on the day, winning arial battles, putting passes on a plate for his teammates and holding the ball up well.

The striker truly showed how his link up play has improved since coming to Old Trafford but still sees himself harshly critiqued.

Cascarino though simply believes the Red Devils’ stature means they shouldn’t have employed a ‘predictable’ striker in Romelu.

According to the Daily Star, Tony wrote in The Times: “Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain: the most exciting teams in Europe have flexible, free-flowing attackers.

“Manchester United have a fixed point in their striker Romelu Lukaku and are therefore predictable. I feel for Lukaku as it’s not his fault, but United’s formulaic style does not suit Alexis Sanchez.

“They have spent all that money but are such a long way from the days of Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. If they are to be a success with Sanchez I don’t see how Lukaku fits in, particularly for tough away games.”

This isn’t the first time Romelu Lukaku’s movement has been called into question but it’s done so a little harshly by Tony Cascarino.

The former Everton man does have a tendency to run to the far post in order to score his goals but it’s perhaps due to old habits and less so to do with his predictability.

Also, the cliche “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” comes to mind in regards to Lukaku as he’s proven himself to be a more than capable goalscorer.

Varied movement will certainly help the powerful forward but it will all come in time as he adjusts to leading the line for one of the top clubs in England.

Back at Everton he wasn’t really required to link things together as he is at United and he’s added that to his game so there’s no reason to believe he can’t improve his movement as well.
