Okla. Mom Who Murdered Daughter by Shoving Crucifix Down Throat in Attempted Exorcism Gets Life

An Oklahoma woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing her daughter by forcing a crucifix and a medallion down her daughter’s throat because she thought she was possessed by Satan, PEOPLE confirms.

Juanita Gomez, 51, was sentenced on Monday for her first-degree murder conviction in the death of her 33-year-old daughter Geneva Gomez in 2016, court records show.

The judge handed down the Oklahoma County jury’s recommended sentence of life in prison without parole, according to The Washington Post.

Gomez answered the judge’s questions quietly but declined to make any statements about the case, according to the Tulsa World. Her attorney says Gomez plans to appeal, the outlet reports.

Police discovered Geneva’s brutally beaten body during a welfare check in Oklahoma City, a police spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time.

She was found covered in blood, with her arms spread out and a large crucifix lying across her chest, investigators said.

Her face was bruised and swollen, the spokesperson said.

Juanita told investigators she had punched her daughter repeatedly before shoving the crucifix and a religious medallion down her throat.

She told police she attacked her daughter because she believed she was possessed, and that she believed the crucifix and medallion would help “rid Satan” from her body.

After watching her die, she said she tried cleaning her daughter’s body and positioned her in the shape of a cross.

Calls for comment from the district attorney and from Gomez’s attorney were not immediately returned.

Teen Mom OG's Catelynn & Tyler Baltierra Reveal to Family They Are Expecting a Third Child

Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra had a huge reason to celebrate on Monday night’s episode of Teen Mom OG.

The couple told Catelynn’s mother, April, and her younger siblings that they were expecting their third child together after last week’s episode showed Catelynn breaking the news to Tyler.

The two are parents to 3-year-old daughter Novalee Reign and are also the biological parents to 8-year-old Carly, whom they placed for adoption.

April was shocked when she opened Nova’s sweater and saw a pink T-shirt that read, “I’m going to be a big sister.”

“Are you serious? Really,” she asked, tearing up. Catelynn said, “I am! I swear to God! Hopefully, it’s a grand-boy,” referring to Tyler’s wish for a son.

“I’m happy with whatever it is,” April said. “Could be twins, you could get one of each!”

Catelynn called their child a “summer baby.”

The couple told Tyler’s father, Butch, separately. He told the two, “What if it’s a girl? Are you going to keep trying for a boy? Rock it out, baby.”

Last week, Catelynn surprised Tyler by having Nova walk out into the living room with a pink T-shirt that revealed the news to him. She also dropped a positive pregnancy test on the dining table in front of him.

“Oh my God,” Tyler said, seeing the test and quickly dropping his head onto his hands.

Catelynn, laughing, walked into the kitchen as Tyler asked her, “How many did you take?”

“Four,” she said. “Oh my God,” he reiterated, laughing and dropping his head again.

“Fertile Myrtle,” he said as she nodded and said, “Yeah!”

Catelynn turned to Nova, who was standing nearby, and said, “There’s a baby in mommy’s tummy.” The mother of two has not mentioned her pregnancy on her social media accounts.

On a recent episode of Teen Mom OG, Catelynn and Tyler discussed the possibility of having another baby after he expressed his desire to expand their family.

But despite her husband’s desire for more children, Catelynn — who struggled with postpartum depression after the birth of Nova — openly expressed her fears when it comes to being pregnant.

“It’s a daily fight in my mind to not be afraid of postpartum ,” she told Tyler. “I can’t let my mind stop me from one of the most amazing things ever.”

The mother of two recently entered rehab in early January to deal with “childhood trauma.” She also entered rehab in November to battle suicidal thoughts.

Bekah M. Explains Why Mom Reported Her 'Missing' — and Admits She Wanted Peter as The Bachelor

Bekah Martinez may no longer be competing for Arie Luyendyk Jr.‘s heart on The Bachelor, but will not be easily forgotten by the show’s fans – and she has her mom to thank for that.

Following Monday’s episode, Martinez appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for her first TV appearance post-Bachelor. “I’m hanging in there. It was shocking for me as well, I’m picking up the pieces as I go along,” the 22-year-old nanny from Los Angeles told host Jimmy Kimmel.

“For one thing, I have been a fan of the show for years… I’ve been telling my family and friends like, ‘Yeah I’m going on The Bachelor one day,’ ” she said when asked why she signed up for the ABC dating competition series instead of conventional dating apps.

“Well, I was hoping it would be Peter and it ended it up being Arie,” Martinez admitted about the possibilities of dating the fan favorite who made it to the final two on Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay‘s season.

While she had been a memorable contestant this season due to her young age, outside the Bachelor house, she made headlines recently after being removed from a missing persons list in California.

During her late-night appearance, Martinez set the record straight about the whole missing persons debacle from earlier this month.

“First of all, a lot of people thought I lied to my mother saying that I was on a farm when I was actually on The Bachelor but no I had already been eliminated from the show,” she told Kimmel.

“I just decided to go to the mountains with my friends for a couple weeks and I was there for six or seven days without phone service which I thought I was going to have phone service and I told my mother that I would,” Martinez recalled.

“I just had this weird feeling like on the sixth or seventh day, I need to go home now. So I got in my car, drove to where I had service, called my parents and then come to find out only 12 hours before my mother had called the Humboldt Sheriff’s Department saying that I was missing,” she added.

According to her mother’s account, Martinez was allegedly planning on working at a marijuana farm in the area. Martinez’s mother told deputies she contacted Martinez via a friend’s cell phone on Nov. 12 at around 11 a.m. and told her she wanted her to come home.

Martinez allegedly refused and said she would see her mother in seven to eight days. At the time, Martinez told her mother that she was near Eureka, an area about 45 minutes north or south of any marijuana farm.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact Martinez and others associated with her, receiving no response. The deputy followed procedure, following up on all leads and forwarding the case to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

“To set the record straight I’m not a weed farmer. I’m still a nanny in L.A.,” Bekah clarified to Kimmel on Monday.

Martinez previously addressed the bizarre news of her being “missing” on Feb. 2, tweeting: “MOM. how many times do I have to tell you I don’t get cell service on The Bachelor??”

Farrah Abraham Feuds with Her Engaged Mom After Learning Jenelle Evans' Ex Is Invited to Wedding

Things don’t seem to be getting any better between Farrah Abraham and her mother Debra Danielsen.

On Monday evening’s episode of Teen Mom OG, the MTV star, 26, called her mother to inquire about certain guests who had been invited to her upcoming nuptials.

Danielsen, who has spent several episodes attempting to convince her daughter to attend her wedding, seemed taken aback when Abraham asked her on FaceTime why she’d invited Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans’ ex-husband, Courtland Rogers, to her wedding.

“I was just wondering what’s going on with you inviting someone who Jenelle has been married to, who has been a habitual criminal, unsafe for kids and you’re having that around your grandkids basically,” Abraham said.

Danielsen immediately responded, saying, “Well, first of all, Farrah, God sees all of us the same way and if somebody has changed their life and if somebody is a good person, then nobody can judge or condemn anybody.”

Despite her mother’s explanation, Abraham didn’t seem inclined to accept the answer.

“You know what, mom, I’m not even a f—— criminal and I’ve changed my life probably more than anybody I’ve seen changes theirs. But still, criminals condemn me every day and act like they’re more of your best friend than I’ve ever seen,” Abraham said.

She continued, “I’ve just seen such fake behavior that I think that’s what criminals are good at: faking behavior and then showing up at your wedding.”

Danielsen said, “Anybody who has to call other people criminals are nothing but afraid of facing reality.”

“Mom, did you know that they’re warning you and protecting you because they’ve had some horrific experiences?” Abraham said, referring to Evans letting her know about her past with Rogers.

“This is a safe zone and it’s gonna be safe,” Danielsen said, referring to her wedding to Dr. David Merz.

“You think you can overtalk me so you can overtalk yourself,” Abraham said, quickly ending the conversation with, “So mom, why don’t you shut up so you can unconfuse your brain?”

Rogers took to Twitter during the airing of Monday night’s episode, writing, “P.S. when did u ever meet me in person? How the HELL do u know who I am or have ANYYY RIGHT to say ANYTHING about me? I can hear it now ‘he’s just tryin to stay relevant’  ur blind! ur mom HAS BEEN a FRIEND OF MINE FOR THE LONGEST! LET HER LIVE HER LIFE #UnlikeHowURunurkids.”

He continued to describe his relationship with Danielsen, saying they met through a Teen Mom Facebook page and adding that she had “saved me many times with grateful words of encouragement.”

“I wish every1 could realize that lifes short! U honestly NEVER KNO IN TODAYS world what U got until it’s gone!Worry about your OWN LIFE&NOT any1 else’s! NOBODY has the right to judge a man by the fictional life in which over the years social media has created of the person im not,” he wrote.

Evans discussed Rogers in her book, Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom, where she claimed she learned she was pregnant with his baby but decided to have an abortion.

“I know people judge me harshly for my choice,” Evans wrote in her book. “If you are hoping for a long, detailed description of what I was going through at the time of my decision, I hate to disappoint you. I have talked about it enough. I did what was best for my body at that time, and I have moved on from it.”

‘Horrific Murder Spree’ as Ky. Man Shoots Parents, Girlfriend, Her Mom and then Himself

A Kentucky man shot four people to death and then killed himself Saturday in what the local sheriff called “a horrific murder spree,” PEOPLE confirms.

“I have worked in law enforcement for 34 years,” Johnson County Sheriff Dwayne Price said in a statement on the department’s Facebook page. “This is one of the most disturbing acts of violence I have ever seen.”

Kentucky State Police identified the shooter as Joseph Nickell.

The victims were Nickell’s parents, James and Arlene Nickell, along with Joseph Nickell’s girlfriend, Lindsey Vanhoose, and Lindsey’s mother, Patricia Vanhoose, State Police Trooper William Petry tells PEOPLE.

Authorities found a note at the first of two locations where the victims were discovered, but “I don’t know what was on the note,” says Petry.

A 911 call at 3:30 p.m. Saturday alerted authorities to a shooting in the Mackenzie Branch community of Johnson County, said the sheriff, who reported two bodies in the kitchen of the residence deceased from gunshot wounds.

Those first two victims were Nickell’s parents, Petry says.

A witness at the scene told authorities that a suspect had fled in a black Toyota Camry. A subsequent 911 call reported the vehicle about 7 miles away parked outside of an apartment complex in Paintsville.

After authorities on the second scene identified an apartment to search, they found the bodies of Lindsey and Patricia Vanhoose along with that of “the perpetrator,” Joseph Nickell, Price said.

The investigation is continuing.

“The lives of four innocent victims were taken,” the sheriff’s statement said. “The perpetrator then took his own life.”

“There are no words to describe the heartbreak in seeing four lives taken due to the actions of one man.”

He added: “I ask for prayers for the families.”

Teenage snowboarder Chloe Kim’s mom is showing off her Olympic pride in style.

Boran Kim posted a photo to Instagram on Sunday of the patriotic fingernail art that she’s sporting in support of her 17-year-old daughter: an American flag on her left forefinger and a Korean flag on her right, a nod to the teen’s dual heritage.

“Ready to watch Chloe NAIL it! :)” Boran wrote in the caption, prompting a sweet comment from Chloe, who wrote: “my mama is the cutest!”

A California native who took up snowboarding at 4 and who won’t turn 18 until the spring, Chloe is widely expected to earn a spot on the podium in the Winter Games’ snowboard halfpipe later this week.

She will compete in a qualifying run on Monday, in the mountains of Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The combination of her youth, her SoCal-inflected personality and her dominant athletic ability has made Chloe one of the American stars of these Olympics, only a few days in.

At a news conference last week, after she arrived, journalists thronged around her.

“I think … wooo,” she said then. “It’s kind of crazy. I think this is the craziest place I’ve been so far, just all of these cameras and like the media village days, too, have been pretty crazy, but it’s all part of the experience.”

She is joined in Pyeongchang by her parents, who immigrated to the U.S. from South Korea more than 20 years ago. Chloe previously told PEOPLE she feels she can “represent both Korea and America.”
