It ended all-square at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
Brighton, who often struggle to find the target, broke the deadlock with a sublime goal just after the half hour.
Colombian winger Jose Izquierdo played two 1-2s to break into the Stoke box, and he produced a cool finish to beat Jack Butland.
Stoke levelled in the second half through their star midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.
After Saturday’s result, Brighton are 14th in the league with 28 points on the board. Stoke are second bottom on 25 points.

After gameweek 27, two Brighton players made the cut.
At the back Mat Ryan was picked in goal, while Izquierdo was picked in midfield for his goalscoring exploits.
Yet, the pick of Ryan irked some Brighton fans. Did he really deserve a place in the XI? Crooks made the following argument for the Seagulls stopper:
What a penalty save by Mat Ryan. Charlie Adam struck it well, but a strong hand from the Brighton keeper delivered the Seagulls a valuable point against a Stoke side in greater need.
But did Ryan really have a good game at Stoke?
This is what makes Garth Crooks great. He sticks a goal keeper in Team of the Week cos he saved a penalty, which was his only save in the game.

Another note by Crooks was also flagged up by Brighton fans regarding manager Chris Hughton. The BBC pundit argued:
What I don’t understand is why they don’t chant Chris Hughton’s name during their games more. I really don’t get it. If fans don’t chant the manager’s name every now and then, how do you think he feels?
But is that true?
Obviously #GarthCrooks didn't hear the whole North Stand singing "Chrissy Hughton's blue and white army" every game above his own droning voice #BHAFC #THFC #BBC https://t.co/7JfBg8m6lN

Crooks is one of the characters who seems to attract hate like a magnet.
The BBC pundit often doesn’t help himself with his outlandish and sometimes cartoonish comments.
This Monday Crooks has wound up fans of Liverpool and Tottenham with his love-in for Sergio Aguero.
As if it was ever in doubt, gameweek 27 was the weekend that Man City won the Premier League title.
Leicester were beaten 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
Raheem Sterling scored after three minutes, before Sergio Aguero chipped in with a four-goal haul against the Foxes.
On Sunday, Newcastle then beat Man United 1-0 to leave Jose Mourinho’s men 16 points behind the Sky Blues.
According to Crooks, Aguero should be crowned the Premier League’s Footballer of the Year.
Really? Has Aguero even been that good for City this season?
Had Gabriel Jesus have stayed fit, would Aguero even be in the Man City team?
Crooks nevertheless felt compelled to write the following:
If this man does not win Footballer of the Year then there is something very wrong with the way we reward our best players.
Granted we have De Bruyne to consider, and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, and of course Kane will feature in the final line-up. But none of the aforementioned have been as consistent over the past five years as Sergio Aguero.

Really Garth Crooks?!
Most believe that Kevin De Bruyne is the frontrunner for the Footballer of the Year award this season.
If he doesn’t win it, Liverpool’s Salah is surely an alternative for the top prize.
While Tottenham striker Harry Kane also has a great claim to the award as he looks to finish the season as the EPL’s top scorer.
