Pundit claims this Man Utd star may consider leaving

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has claimed that Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford may have to leave the club in search for first team football.

Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from the Gunners in January sparked a debate on what the move could mean for United’s youngsters.

Anthony Martial and Rashford in particular have been the ones who the press are seemingly concerned about given the position they share.

Both players play in Sanchez’s preferred left wing position and some people have claimed he will derail their development.

Henry appears to be on board with that assessment and thinks there may come a time for Marcus to reconsider his position at the club.

According to Goal, Thierry said on Sky Sports: “One of the most important things for me is that you have to play. You cannot be on the bench and missing games, missing learning about the game and stopping that momentum, and an example is Rashford.

“Michael Owen had the opportunity to back up what he did the year before because he played, and he played, and he played, and he played – and I can give you more examples.

“But Rashford at times could not capitalise on what he did from that year [after his debut], because sometimes he is playing on the right, [sometimes] on the left.

“Leave is a strong word. Obviously being from there, he wants to play for United. But he has to play and it is becoming even more difficult for him since Sanchez has arrived.

“I think at the end of the season, he is maybe going to have a thinking day of ‘do I stay?’”

Thierry Henry as well as the other pundits or critics’ assessment of the situation seems to be a little unfounded given how things actually are.

Anthony’s game time has not decreased at all since the Chileans arrival to the club whilst Marcus Rashford missed, for the first time this season, the Red Devils’ match squad due to injury and not Alexis Sanchez.

The Englishman has been heavily involved with Manchester United this season just as he had been last seen with Jose Mourinho showing him preferential treatment.

Perhaps the reason why some people are concerned is due to Sanchez’s arrival coinciding with Rashford’s poor form which has seen him drop to the bench.

In fact, it’s Anthony Martial who has overtaken the academy product due to his own good form that allowed him to win the January player of the month for Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino claims he is happy at Tottenham

Mauricio Pochetino has reiterated his stance that he is happy at Tottenham Hotspur despite continuous links to reigning European champions Real Madrid.

His side take on Juventus in the last-16 of the Champions League on Tuesday, in arguably the Argentine’s biggest game of his managerial career so far.

Reports appeared over the weekend that Spurs officials are confident that Pochettino will remain at the club beyond next summer, further proving the club’s supporters his future, for now, remains at Tottenham.

“I am so focused on Tottenham”

Pochettino has reaffirmed his commitment to Spurs by stating his is fully committed to the club.

Reports surfaced just recently claiming that he is set to remain at the club beyond next summer, leading Spurs out into their new stadium.

The former Southampton manager is understood to have already begun discussing summer plans for the club’s transfer activity.

The 45-year-old was facing the media ahead of tomorrow’s crunch match against Juve in the Champions League in Turin.

Pochettino said:

“I am in football after two, three years, I am conscious about the sport. I know very well the business.

I know very well how it’s working and of course I am so focused on Tottenham, trying to give our best, like always I said what is going to happen in the future, only I can tell you that we have three years more in our contract at Tottenham and I am happy here.

I am so excited to be here for nearly four years now, developing a very nice project and I think we have a very nice project ahead.”

Juventus vs Tottenham preview

For Juve, it has been a spell of utter dominance, winning all 11 of their last fixtures in Serie A, including a 2-0 victory at Fiorentina last time out.

Despite so many impressive displays, the Old Lady still find themselves sat second, behind leaders Napoli, in what has been quite an enthralling race for the title in Italy this season.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side reached this stage of the competition after finishing runners-up to Barcelona in Group D.

For Tottenham Hotspur, this game concludes what has been a tough run of fixtures; but also a period in which they have really flourished.

Taking seven points from their last three league games, coming up against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, they travel to Italy at just the right moment in time.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side made it to the last-16 of the competition having taken a joint-English record tally of 16 points to top a group containing both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Jose Mourinho not getting the best out of Pogba, claims Joleon Lescott

Jose Mourinho isn’t getting the best out of Manchester United’s starman Paul Pogba, according to Joleon Lescott.

Pogba has been one of Man United’s best players this season, despite being ruled out for some time through injury and suspension over three separate spells.

Signed for a then-world record £89m from Serie A side Juventus, Pogba’s return to Old Trafford was underwhelming for the majority of the last campaign, but some of the Frenchman’s performances this time out have been wonderful.

Former-Manchester City defender Lescott criticised Mourinho’s habit of changing Pogba’s role in the side frequently.

“Playing him in one position to allow him to enhance United’s performances would help him,” Lescott said on the Sky Sports show The Debate, “I don’t they are doing at the moment.

“One week he’s playing one role, then he’s playing a deeper role or a wider role.”

Pogba has faced heavy criticism since rejoining United. His huge transfer fee, though it now seems minimal given the fees for players in the summer that followed, was brought up constantly during his first season.

Changing his position is “not helping him as he faces a lot of criticism due to his price tag,” Lescott continued.

“It would help him if he knew where he was going to play for the next few weeks and then he can perfect that position.

“He can play a defensive role but those types of players don’t enjoy it as much. You won’t get the best out of him. As a player, the more comfortable you feel in a position the better you’ll perform.”

Former Man Utd man claims Mourinho has rattled Conte

Former Manchester United player Paul Ince has claimed that Jose Mourinho has rattled Chelsea manager Antonio Conte after their recent spat.

The pair went head to head in press conferences and it appears as though the Portuguese boss may have ended it all as the winner.

Since the start of the year the Blues have played 10 times, winning twice, losing three times and drawing the remaining games.

It’s hardly been world class form from Conte’s men and many have attributed the decline in performances to his spat with Mourinho.

Ince appears to be on board with those who claim that Antonio has been shaken by what happened and that his players have since lost their faith in him.

According to The Sport Review, Paul said to Paddy Power: “Ever since Antonio Conte had that public argument with Jose Mourinho, he hasn’t been the same.

“He’s not seemed happy since that little spat and things have been going wrong for Chelsea ever since.

“Everyone at The Blues seems to have lost their focus, and it’s obvious that Mourinho rattled Conte, exactly as he set out to do.

“Since that war of words, the Italian has looked dejected and just exudes negativity.

“As a top-class manager, it shouldn’t matter what’s going on in the press, and the problems behind the scenes. You should be positive for the sake of the team.”

The issue all began when Jose claimed he no longer celebrates ‘like a clown’ on touchlines anymore because he’s a more mature and level headed manager.

The question was put forth to Antonio Conte that the comment was directed at him although United’s manager never made it clear that way.

Conte responded saying that Jose Mourinho must have amnesia amongst other unpleasant things and the former Real Madrid boss shot back by saying he has never and would never be suspended for match-fixing.

The Italian became enraged and called Mourinho a little man and once again said a few distasteful comments, calling on the Portuguese to face him on the pitch.

The whole situation seemed to have no effect on the Red Devils who played seven matches since the turn of the year, winning six and losing once to Tottenham.
